Phillip Day’s March Seminar in Bendigo 2009

Background: Phillip is a health researcher & reporter; the head of the publishing and research organisation called Credence. The intention of Credence is to work with establishments and organisations concerned to resolve issues that are harmful to the public. It provides the necessary information for people to make their own informed choices. Phillip tours for 10 months each year doing seminars on different health topics. His aim is to keep people up-to-date with all aspects of health: drugs, diet, diagnoses, the effects of thought and exercise.

“Healing in the Home”:

This seminar covered many concepts, a lot of it I considered to be common knowledge, though other aspects came as a surprise. For example: bacteria is slowed from forming by 72 to 94% in rooms if the air is circulated  and the temperature is kept at 21 degrees Celsius; an interesting fact that can aid us in reducing bacteria in our homes.

One of Phillip’s main areas of concern is cancer . He stressed that massive confusion exists in relation to this health problem; not all cancers are the same. Some people either forget or are not aware that there is a diet life-style, which is essential in reducing one’s susceptibility or increase of this disease. Phillip Day’s steps to fight cancer or to improve your general health include:

1.      Hydration and Salt: 73% of the human body consists of salt and water. The key here is that  we generally do not drink enough water. Therefore the majority of us are dehydrated. This means that the cells in our body are not being properly flushed, which enables a build-up of toxins in our system. We should drink half our own body weight in grams per day; this averages out to two to three litres.  We also need to replenish the body’s salt content, as water will also flush this out. Phillip suggests that the healthiest salt to use is land salt that is rich in minerals; such as Himalayan Crystallized Salt.

2.     Dietary Changes:  eat mainly raw foods that are whole and organic. When having hot foods do not over cook them; al dente is best, as heat kills the vegetables natural enzymes. The ideal balance for a healthy body is 80% alkali and 20% acidic foods; our  western diet tends to be in reverse. For those who love their meat it is best to avoid all forms of Pork meat, including ham and bacon. It has been suggested that the consumption of pork can produce acute bodily responses such as appendix and gall bladder inflammations, biliary colics, gastroenteritis and eczema. Avoid sugar as this helps to feed yeast infections and cancer. If you enjoy fruit, apples and pears are best as these have a low sugar-conversion when ingested into the body.

3.     Supplements:  certain health supplements can improve nutrition and help boost your    immune system.  Cancer has been linked to a vitamin D deficiency; it has been suggested to spend 20 to 25 minutes  in sun light per day or 5000 units of a vitamin D supplement. Phillip’s book The ABC’s of Disease has a comprehensive guide to nutritional supplements. He suggests that a basic supplement program should include: B-complex, vitamin E (400 IU a day), Zinc (15mg  am & pm) & Vitamin C complex (1 to 3 grams per day).

4.     Exercise: Eating good food will help increase your energy; as will including daily exercise. Exercise also benefits you by increasing Oxygen absorption, which encourages red blood cell formation that enables healthy blood. A good exercise program  will assist in cleansing the body, toning the body and ensuring that the body is working properly. This may be taking a daily walk and doing an hour in the gym twice a week.

Toxin Removal: Re-hydrating the body helps to flush out stored toxins. The first step in toxin removal is to check out your bathroom cupboard and discard the items that contain   toxins; such as Aluminium (linked to Alzheimer’s disease), Fluorides (classified as a contaminant by the US Environmental Protection Agency), Sodium lauryl sulfate (its initial use was as an industrial degreasant and garage floor cleaner) and Talc (linked to ovarian   cancer). These are just a few chemicals that can be found in the products we use on our hair and skin daily. In Phillip Day’s  booklet Digestive Health, he list the benefits of detoxification and how you can cleanse your body.

6.      Stress Management: this includes removing any destructive self-talk. In his book The Mind Game, Phillip talks about how what we think can either enhance or undermine good health. Therefore de-stressing is about thinking positively, relaxing the mind and the body.
